Greetings and good day!
I’ve always been a bit of a sceptic when it comes to dental care and I’m not pro fluoride either. I questioned the doc on why my kids needed X-rays every few months. I said “no” to the fluoride treatments and really questioned the whole industry when the “goody bag” from the Dr. Dan had a small tube of bright turquoise colored paste with silver glitter sprinkled in. Glitter? Really?
And I love how it says on the back of the tube “Do not swallow”. Tell that to a 3-year-old learning to brush.
On the other hand, when you are in pain with a crazy toothache the dentist is the only place to be. Emergency medicine is the best medicine in my opinion. Avoiding pain and deterioration? There are many natural options indeed!
Here are 11 known ways to grow better teeth-and yes, they are always changing so what you eat, drink and absorb DOES make a difference.
Calcium, yes. But it’s not well absorbed on its own. You need half the amount of magnesium present (think 1,000 calcium and 500 magnesium) for that calcium to get in. Otherwise, your body will not process the excess calcium and it may show up as kidney stones.
D3 is needed for bone and teeth healthy. Sunshine is best, if not a good 1,000-unit quality product is a good choice.
Magnesium: As I said above, necessary for calcium to absorb. Once I had a terrific toothache and took a ton of magnesium citrate and away it went.
Collagen: I hope you are taking some good quality collagen. Fabulous for your skin, hair, nails, weight loss. Collagen is a major part of your dentin and will benefit most every cell in your body. Great for anti-aging.
Phosphorous: A major mineral hardly anyone knows about. It’s number two after calcium and 85% of the body’s phosphorous is found in your bones and teeth. You can take this in a supplement (I suggest Skeletal Strength from Nature’s Sunshine 3 at night-found on Amazon). I’ve taken it for 25 years.
Manganese: This one is a trace mineral. And it helps keep your enamel strong. The Skeletal Strength above is a good choice. Lack of manganese may also be the source of your knees clicking and clacking.
Oil pulling: Have you ever done this ancient Ayurvedic art? Oil pulling is amazing and has over 22 mouth benefits including healthy gums. I was once told I had advanced gingivitis. I did a few rounds of oil pulling and went back in about 6 months. No sign of gingivitis Give it a Googe or better yet, You Tube.
Toothpaste: Choose a high quality one. Not one with additives, colors/dyes or chemicals. Like that glitter crap. I use a coconut charcoal one-it’s black and that combo will keep your teeth whiter. Check Amazon for natural toothpastes…they taste delicious!
Silver Shield: Anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial. Always in the fridge at my house for just about any ailment. It’s great for canker sores as well. I’ve used this for decades to get at a toothache early on.
Garlic: This is indeed an old tonic. Take a clove of garlic, chew on it and keep it on the tooth that hurts. So helpful if you are between being seen.
Remember, your teeth are a direct reflection on the health of your body! Healthy body equals healthy teeth. And yes, of course you should floss! I know people who never miss a day-wow! I’m impressed!
