I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I just had my second mammogram of my life this past February. It went well and I certainly felt relieved as I had chosen to roll the dice on this checkup for over 30 years. Not recommended.
I knew my body was strong, had no history, cleansed often, exercised regularly for the past 40 years, ate organic, non-hormone and took bio-identical hormones…but still, you never know, right? It was actually a dream showing a tumor that inspired me to go.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the world claiming over 670K women per year. It’s the second most common here in the US and a whopping 30% of new cancers are in the breast. The average age of onset? 62. But we all know many who are much younger, don’t we?
Please do know that just because your Mom and/or Grandma had breast cancer it’s not your destiny. Maybe you have a weak link in your family history? Sure. But epigenetics tells us that what we eat, how we move, what we think and how we function in our world actually controls of our gene expression turning them off and on based on current body conditions. Epigenetics also influences our DNA…and how cool is that!
